Olympic Silver Medalist Elana Meyers To Deliver Spring Commencement Address

Olympic bobsledder Elana Meyers, a silver medal winner in the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, will deliver the keynote address at Georgia State University’s spring commencement, 2 p.m., Saturday, May 10 at the Georgia Dome.

Meyers, from Douglasville, Ga., won the silver medal with Lauryn Williams in the two-woman bobsled competition. 

She garnered a bronze medal with teammate Erin Pac in the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.
Inspired by the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta as a child, she played softball as a shortstop and pitcher for George Washington University and was named to the ECAC Division I softball All-Star Team in 2007.

When softball was dropped from the summer Olympics, she didn’t give up her Olympic dreams. Instead, she pursued bobsledding, making the U.S. national team in her rookie season.
Meyers is an athlete director on the U.S. Bobsled Federation Board of Directors. 

She holds a master’s degree in sports marketing and a bachelor’s degree in exercise science, both from George Washington University, and is pursuing a master’s in finance from DeVry University.

She is involved in the community through support for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and the Women’s Sports Foundation.
